Norwood Jewelers

I went to Norwood Jewelers in Ashland City to get my hubby's watch fixed.  I left with great advice on the watch, as well as a shiny wedding ring.  If you're in the market for new jewelry, if you need jewelry repaired, or if you need an appraisal on your jewelry, I recommend Norwoods.  They've been in Ashland City for 22 years, they're friendly, and they do good work.

They don't have a website, but you can reach owner Dean Norwood at 792-5107.

They are located at 606 N. Main Street on the west end of downtown Ashland City, just past the hospital.

Stone Bridge Books, Gifts & Music

My daughter and I went to Stone Bridge Books, Gifts & Music this morning.  I always like looking at their gift section and their large selection of used books (including lots of homeschooling materials!).  They also carry many new books, including beautiful picture books for children.  But today I enjoyed their new music section.  They sell guitars and guitar accessories.  They also provide music lessons.  What a great local resource for us to use!

24 Kids Consignment Sale

24 Church is hosting a children's consignment sale in Pleasant View August 21-22, 2009. All proceeds from the sale will benefit the Preschool and Kids Ministry at 24 Church.

You can shop, consign, or reserve a booth to sell your stuff! They will have a plethora of items related to children - fall/winter clothes (newborn to juniors 15, and maternity), baby/children's equipment, DVDs, games, shoes, books, outdoor toys, sports equipment, bedding, decor, breast pumps, strollers, pack-n-plays...

I love buying almost-new clothes, toys, and gifts at the sale, and it can be quite profitable to sell your gently-used items there. You get to keep 70-80% of the proceeds from your items, and the other 20-30% goes to a really good cause.

Find out more about the 24 Kids Sale at 24kidssale.blogspot.com or (615) 426-4338 or 24kidssale@gmail.com

I hope to see you there! Ann

Pleasant View Flowers & Gifts

You don't need to drive 20 minutes to order flowers anymore - Pleasant View has a brand new flower and gift shop that delivers fresh flowers, silk floral arrangements, balloons and gift baskets.

Why I'll be shopping with Tammy:
  1. Cost: Because she works out of her home studio, her beautiful arrangements start at just $20.
  2. Local: I love the opportunity to support local businesses
  3. Convenience: I don't have to juggle 3 kids inside a fragile shop - I can order online AND support a local business!
  4. Experience: Tammy knows her stuff - she's been in the business for 23 years.
  5. Unique: She will customize orders to fit my preferences.
  6. Quick service: Next day delivery is guaranteed, and sometimes she can work even faster.
  7. Classy: On Special Holidays they make deliveries dressed in a Tux & Top Hat!
  8. Special: I can't always personally deliver gifts to our out-of-town family members, but Tammy can send flowers and gifts with a personal touch!
  9. Great ideas:

Spa & Bath baskets for women or girls
Chocolate Lovers baskets for moms that need a smile
New Baby baskets with treats for baby & mom
Golf Tee Time or Bar-B-Que Master baskets for great Dads
Graduation Gift Baskets
Birthday Baskets for pre-teens or teens

Stop by & see the Flowers & Gifts to Your Door Booth at the Pleasant View Fireman's Picnic Sat. July 25th, visit her website at www.pvgiftdelivery.com, or call her at 615-746-2069.

Pleasant View Milling Company

I took two of my kids (ages 4 and 2) to check on mulch prices/quality at the mill, and was pleasantly surprised by a great field trip.

The kids were fascinated by the feed mixer. It's like a huge blender that is probably 45 feet tall. We watched the owner pour corn, oats, and another kind of feed into the 'blender' to custom-make horse feed. The kids got to feel and smell the different kinds of feed, then they watched the owner fill and tie the new bags.

Then the owner's wife took us to the basement, where they had baby chicks, turkeys, and a duck. She let us watch them, and offered to let the kids hold them. They were content to pet the babies while I held them in my hand.

It was a great afternoon visit, and I recommend their services.

Oh, by the way, their mulch is great. Black and red mulch is $26/scoop and Brown mulch is $18/scoop. They also have plants that are $1.50/4-pack.

What a great local service!

Great Gift Shop in Pleasant View

I love browsing through all the great home and gift items at Pleasant Home on Main Street in Pleasant View. (It's the cute little window-shop store across from the fire department.) I love the aromas of their candle assortments, their home decorating products inspire me every time I visit, and they have a great gift registry for weddings and babies.

Last week, I picked up some gift items for birthdays and Christmas. I know Christmas is months away, but I like to buy gifts as I find them throughout the year. I found some happy little monogrammed keychains and some beautiful handmade monogrammed coasters.

Rhiannon is one of the owners - she's delightful to visit with, and very accomodating to your shopping needs. She loves children, so my children even like going in her shop - though I bribe their hands-off and quiet-shopping behavior with little treats throughout the store. :)

If you haven't stopped by her store in awhile, make time to peek in and say hello. Or if you want to shop from the comfort of your pajamas, you can visit their online store here. You never know what treasures you'll find for yourself or a friend!

Hours: Mon - Fri: 10AM - 6PM, Sat: 10AM - 4PM, Sun: Closed
