Flood Relief: Opportunities To Serve:

Reprinted from Chris Royalty at 24Church.com:
This Saturday will be a big day in Cheatham County for our recovery and relief efforts and you have several different ways you can put your Hands On Cheatham County if you have the time:

1. Community Clean Up - There are literally hundreds of homes in our area that have experienced some level of flood damage from a few feet of water in the basement to complete destruction. All of these homes need assistance from moving out personal items, furniture and appliances to pulling up carpet and tearing out drywall. The Cheatham Chamber is organizing this effort and will kick it off with a Briefing and Assignment at 7:00am this Saturday May 15 at Cheatham Middle School. PLEASE be sure to first register as a volunteer at www.cheathamchamber.org 'Hands On Cheatham County'.

If you will be a part of this clean up effort, you are STRONGLY urged to first attend the Flood Disaster Trainings Thursday 5/13 at 6:30pm at Freds in Ashland City (the Donation Center). You will need this information for your own safety and for that of the homes you will be working on.

2. Community Family Relief Day - The Pleasant View Civitan Club and several other groups are working tirelessly to plan and organize a community event this Saturday 5/15 to benefit and support the families of Cheatham County that have been affected by the flood. This event is in conjunction with their previously scheduled Movie in the Park and will be full day! They are seeking volunteers to come out and help them love on these families, lend a hand and bring a smile to their faces. There will be family friendly events, inflatables, live music, food and much more. Wether you are able to serve or not, you are encouraged to come out with your family and have some fun! Spend time with your neighbors and new friends and love on people!

This volunteer opportunity is perfect for those of you who have small children or are physically unable to clean out houses or just want to love on families who need it. If you are interested helping out with this, please email Deb.Haines@24Church.com. There will be more details coming in the next few days!

3. Collection and Distribution Sites  - Both the FRED's location and the Bethesda Center are still in need of volunteers! Hundreds of families have been helped by the generosity of this community through these two locations and the need has not gone away just because most of the water is gone. If you have a few hours to help receive donations, sort and organize and love on the families coming in, call the Cheatham Chamber at (615) 792-6722.

4. Feed People! - The volunteers that will be out in the homes and in the Donation centers are and will be working non-stop! If your talent is Hospitality and Food, consider bringing lunches, drinks and snacks to these volunteers. A bottle of water and a ham sandwich will go a long way towards our recovery. If you would like to help with this, please email Gina.Hollingsworth@24Church.com.
