Pleasant View is a quaint little Tennessee town that's great for raising a family. Since moving here in November 2006, I haven't found a good list of local family activities, so I started my own list. I hope you'll use this blog to discover fun ideas for your family, and I hope you'll take a minute to share fun ideas with us too!

Hoops for Haiti
Austin Peay Athletics will donate all proceeds from tickets sold at the door at the women’s and men’s basketball games on January 20th and 22nd to a project in northern Haiti. This project, initially developed by an Austin Peay professor with support from the university, has received further funding from the Clarksville Sunrise Rotary Club.
The purpose of the project is to provide material and logistical support to a group of about 200 coffee and cocoa bean farmers in Tibouk, Haiti, who are trying to raise the quality of their products so as to be able to export them to the United States and other countries. A small group of Rotary members will travel to Haiti later this year to continue work on this project.

Baby Signs by Sara
Sarah Sanford is a speech-language pathologist, wife, mother of two, and music minister. She used signs with both of her own children and has used it with both hearing and deaf students she works with in the school system. Climb for a Cause in Clarksville
On December 4th join Outdoor Recreation in a Holiday Celebration at the Challenge Course Complex. ODR staff will be available to assist you on any of our four unique structures.
Check out the 50 foot tall Climbing Wall, or Alpine Tower, or our 30 foot free falling swing we call the Giant Swing, and do not forget the biggest structure, the Odyssey Course. Groups will be brought through the Odyssey every half hour, so don’t miss your chance to try out the ultimate jungle gym.
The cost is $8.00 per person for those participating in the climbing the Challenge Course, or bring a gift and climb for free. Outdoor Recreation (ODR) is also partnering with the Holiday House program here at Fort Campbell. The goal of Holiday House is to provide gifts to Fort Campbell Military Families who would otherwise not receive holiday gifts. We are in need of gifts for children ages 9 to 17. The value of the gift should range between $10.00 and $25.00.
Due to lack of space, no bikes, clothing, or baby furniture/diapers will be collected at this location. Please help us support a great cause from 10:00am until 2:00pm. For more information about the Challenge Course Open House and Holiday Drive, please call Outdoor Recreation at 270-412-7855.

Harry Potter at the Clarksville Library!
Reprint from Clarksvilleonline.com
Harry Potter fans rejoice! On Friday, November 12th, 2010, the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library will be hosting a Harry Potter Event.
That evening, the library will close at 6:00pm for normal business but will reopen for the event at 6:30p.m.
This event, suitable for the whole family, will unite wizards and Muggles for an evening of fun. The library will transform into Hogwarts and Diagon Alley. You will be able to choose and design your own wand. You may attend potions class and learn the mysteries of magic. There will be gaming in the Gryffindor commons area as well as trivia contests.
The highlight of the evening will be a costume contest. Everyone is encouraged to come dressed as their favorite character or member of the “Harry Potter series” community.
The most philanthropic events will be a clothing drive in true S.P.E.W. fashion. Although the event is free, attendees are encouraged to bring used clothing for underprivileged house elves and other residents of Montgomery County. The clothing will be donated to a local charity for distribution.
